Line Sandvad Mengers (Videbæk, Denmark)

Line Sandvad Mengers is a visual artist working with cultural value within the areas of social and conceptual art. She works with common objects and projects in which location and participation are key. The works relate to self-representation of individuals, organizations and nations and the concept of truth in relation to identity. Line Sandvad Mengers’ approach to participatory projects is to have a thought through concept for the occasion, that locals help complete. She recently made the project PERSONS OF INTEREST, where every person in the village, Åsted was part of her project for GRASSLANDS, European Cultural Capital Aarhus 2017. Line Sandvad Mengers has exhibited internationally at Art Museums and in public spaces and her work is part of the collection of Danish art foundation.

In 2006 she graduated from the Department of Conceptually based Art, Funen Art Academy, DK.

In parallel to her artistic practice Line Sandvad Mengers works on curatorial projects in the village, Laven, where she lives and works. Social and idea-based projects have taken place since 2011.

She is currently head of the contemporary program at Vestjyllands Art Pavilion, DK.

Line Sandvad Mengers has teaching experience from a number of workshops and lectures at Aarhus Art Academy, AROS – Aarhus Art Museum, Vestjyllands Folk High school and Aarhus University among others.
