From February 12 to February 23, 2018, PAIC second work session on the Island of Vis, this time in the city of Vis, is taking place. While the PAIC team is discussing the project issues, local community is involved in two video workshops. With Slovenian artist Valerie Wolf Gang and Croatian artist Dinko Božanić as workshop mentors, the community will create multi-perspective videos where local community will feel true and important (co)authorship. The participatory video approach is chosen because it allows the community stakeholders to truly actively contribute and transform their knowledge, skills, self-image, adding new layers on their identity.
Both workshops use similar and compatible methodology and topic settings, discussing and rethinking the future of the island (culture). At the workshop mentored by Croatian film maker Dinko Božanić, children and parents will give different perspective on the life of the island, and at the other workshop, mentored by by Slovenian artist Valerie Wolf Gang, Antun Matijašević Karamaneo high school students will tell stories about the island using movement, poetry and music.
Video presentation will take place on Friday February 23, 2018 at 8.30 p.m., at the International University Centre Vern, Viški boj 3, after the round table discussion.
